Prerequisites
To study the Oral Health Sciences degree an individual will usually have to have studied A level Biology alongside 2 other A level subjects. The entry requirements are subject to change, but currently individuals are asked for AAB. Work experience of at least one week in a dental practice is compulsory.
Core requisites
Taking four years to complete with placements and work experience a key part in being able to complete this degree and provide the pathway to become professionally qualified as a dental surgeon. A years placement is optional between years 3 and 4, or there will also be the opportunity to work with other external companies and practices over the duration of the course.
Course summary
Giving you the skills you need in order to become a dental therapist or dental hygienist. Trained to carry out an extensive list of procedures from simple fillings to the extraction of teeth. Developing excellent communication skills encouraging clients to understand the importance of their oral health. There is the option to carry out a years placement, but it is also mandatory that there is constant voluntary work at a dental practice alongside the course over the last 2 years.
