Prerequisites

To study a Veterinary Medicine degree an individual will usually have to have studied A level Biology along with two other A level subjects. The entry requirements are subject to change, but currently individuals are asked for AAA. Work experience of at least 2 weeks working with animals is required as well as at least a week working in a veterinary practice.

Core requisites

Taking five years to complete with placements and work experience a key part in being able to complete this degree and provide the pathway to become professionally qualified as a veterinary surgeon. Also including a one year placement between years four and five. Throughout the duration of the course there will be constant involvement with external companies and practices, in order to aid the individuals learning as this is an extremely hands on course.

Course summary

The course will explore extensive veterinary history, scientific and clinical training in veterinary medicine. Studying and gaining an understanding of the basic biological principals of normal body functions and disease across all animals gaining practical skills in clinical science. Gaining fundamental problem solving, communication and team working skills which will be very useful for the individual to carry forward to their future careers after they have completed the course.
