Prerequisites

To study the Infectious Diseases degree an individual will usually have to have studied A level Biology and Chemistry along with one other A level subject. The entry requirements are subject to change, but currently individuals are asked for AAB, with both A in Chemistry and Biology. Work experience of at least 2 weeks in a relevant field is required.

Core requisites

Taking 4 years to complete with placements and work experience a key part in being able to complete this degree and provide the pathway to become professionally qualified in Infectious Diseases. There will be the option to do a year long placement between year 3 and 4, however if this is not desired then there is the chance to carry out smaller 3 week placements throughout the second and third year.

Course summary

The study of infectious diseases investigates the microorganisms that can cause disease in humans and animals and how a host responds to infection. The broad analytical, scientific and personal skills you gain will equip you for a variety of careers. Studying microorganisms, infection processes, bacteriology and much more.

Infectious disease is a major challenge to society in the developed and developing worlds.
