Prerequisites

To study a Veterinary Medicine degree an individual will usually have to have studied A level Biology along with two other A level subjects. The entry requirements are subject to change, but currently individuals are asked for AAA. Work experience of at least 2 weeks working with animals is required as well as at least a week working in a veterinary practice.

Core requisites

Taking four years to complete with placements and work experience a key part in being able to complete this degree and provide the pathway to become professionally qualified as a veterinary surgeon. There will be a lot of interaction and work with animals and external companies and practise throughout the course to help the individual gain experience, knowledge and skills within this area, which can all be carried forward to a career after the course has been completed.

Course summary

The course will explore extensive veterinary history, scientific and clinical training in veterinary medicine. Studying and gaining an understanding of the basic biological principals of normal body functions and disease across all animals gaining practical skills in clinical science. Gaining fundamental problem solving, communication and team working skills, all being extremely valuable when progressing forward to a career within veterinary medicine.
