Prerequisites
To study a Theoretical Physics degree an individual will usually have to have studied Physics at A level along with two other A level subjects. The entry requirements are subject to change, but currently individuals are asked for AAB. Work experience of at least 2 weeks working in a relevant field is required.
Core requisites
Taking four years to complete with placements and work experience a key part in being able to complete this degree and provide the pathway to become professionally qualified in Theoretical Physics leading to endless career possibilities.
Course summary
Students will gain a good knowledge of physics and how to solve physics problems using mathematics and computing. Studying a wide range of topics:
- Modern physics and physics of fields and matter
- Thermodynamics
- Statistical mechanics
- Electromagnetism
- Optics
- Quantum mechanics.
There will be an extensive amount of mathematical and statistical work throughout this course so a highly analytical mindset is needed.
Note
Students will gain a good knowledge of physics and how to solve physics problems using mathematics and computing.
